Where to Eat & Drink
Coeur d'Alene
Italian
Giuseppe's Pasta Posto
Hands down the best dinner in CDA right now. Chef John is a true craftsman — you can feel the passion in every bite. Make a reservation; it fills up fast Thursday through Saturday.
The gnocchi and the tiramisu. Don't skip either — fair warning, you won't stop thinking about them.
Waterfront Fine Dining
The Cedars Floating Restaurant
If you're doing one special dinner, make it here. You walk across a dock to reach a restaurant that literally floats on the river. Ask for a window seat when you book — the sunset views are stunning.
The New York strip with the salad bar. Classic for a reason.
Southern Comfort
Izzy's Comfort Kitchen
Our go-to for brunch. The cornbread comes out warm and everything on the menu is gluten-friendly, which is rare and wonderful. Great energy without being too rushed.
The peach bourbon BBQ burger or the fried chicken plate — you'll want to order a second.
Cocktail Bar
The Goat Lounge
Our favorite pre-dinner stop in downtown CDA. The bartenders are genuinely talented — tell them what you're in the mood for and they'll make something off-menu. Cozy lounge seating, great tapas.
Ask for the current off-menu seasonal cocktail. You won't regret it.
Hayden
American · Wine Bar
Parallel 47
Our personal favorite restaurant in the whole area. The food is consistently outstanding and the desserts are over the top. Worth the short drive from anywhere in North Idaho.
The Szechuan fried cauliflower to start, then whatever pasta is on the menu. Save room for dessert.
Waterfront
The Boathouse
Right on Hayden Lake — the spot to pull up to after a day on the water. Casual, fun, and the Sand Pail shareable drink is a crowd favorite every time. Call ahead to confirm hours.
The Sand Pail for the table and the fish tacos. Best enjoyed with lake water still on your clothes.
Post Falls
Historic Pub
Republic Kitchen + Taphouse
One of our favorite spots to bring out-of-town guests. A restored 1910 house that's charming inside. The menu is creative and unexpected in the best way. Summer patio is incredible.
The warm onion dip to start, then the jalapeño burger. Trust the process.
Farm-to-Table
Gathered
The owner pours her heart into this place and it shows. Gluten-free guests are genuinely taken care of here. The BBQ mac & cheese burger is one of the best things we've eaten in Post Falls.
The BBQ mac & cheese burger. You'll want to order a second before you finish the first.
Coffee Shops
Coeur d'Alene
Specialty Roaster
Maha Coffee Roasters
Our personal everyday coffee spot. Mason, the owner, is one of the warmest people you'll meet and takes time to chat. Never loud or rushed — just great coffee and good vibes.
A cortado. Clean, simple, perfect. You might find yourself back before checkout day.
Local Roaster
CDA Coffee Co.
A CDA institution. Big, airy space right downtown, roasted in-house. The fire pit out front is perfect on a cool morning. Great energy without being too loud.
A breve latte. Our daughters call it "amazing" every single time — and they're not wrong.
Riverside Roaster
DOMA Coffee Roasting
Grab your coffee and walk the Spokane River trail right outside — one of our favorite things to do on a slow morning. The outdoor seating overlooking the water is genuinely beautiful.
Try a drip coffee, black. Their beans are that good on their own — no additions needed.
Post Falls
Coffee + Bookshop
Kindred & Co
The attention to detail in this space is wild — plan to stay longer than you think. Browse the books, stay for a sandwich, and just enjoy the atmosphere. One of the best spots in Post Falls.
The Grinder sandwich. Best sandwich in Post Falls, full stop — don't leave without trying it.
Bakery Café
Terre Coffee & Bakery
Opens at 5AM — a lifesaver on early departure days. Everything feels homemade and warm. Syrups are made in-house and the breakfast sandwich selection is genuinely addictive.
The jalapeño cheddar bagel breakfast sandwich. You'll want one for the road too.
Grocery Stores & Markets
Arrival day tip: If you land hungry and don't want to cook right away, head straight to Pilgrim's hot bar — the freshest, most satisfying grab-and-go in town, and it's been our arrival day ritual for years.
Organic · Local · CDA
Pilgrim's Market — 1316 N 4th St, CDA
We genuinely love this store. Locally owned, the staff actually care, and the selection is unlike any other grocery in North Idaho. The hot bar and salad bar are fresh daily. Don't miss the Secret Sunday Sale — they deeply discount select items every week.
The hot bar is the move on arrival day. Grab something warm and skip cooking your first night.
Unique Finds · CDA
Trader Joe's — 303 E Spokane Ave, CDA
So glad we have one in CDA — always clean, staff are incredibly friendly, and the seasonal section is dangerous for the budget. Perfect for stocking up on quick meals, snacks, and affordable wines for the week.
Full Service · Post Falls
Yoke's Fresh Market — 1501 E Seltice Way, Post Falls
Our go-to on the Post Falls side. The deli is one of the best in the area — their in-house burger is a steal. Produce is always beautifully kept and the bakery does custom cakes if you have something to celebrate.
Open 24 Hours · All 3 Locations
Super 1 Foods
Most convenient option no matter which property you're in — there's a Super 1 close to all three of our locations. CDA: 305 W Kathleen Ave · Hayden: 240 Hayden Ave · Post Falls: 805 E Polston Ave
Hikes, Trails & the Water
Honest advice: No matter how long your to-do list is, carve out at least one morning to walk Tubbs Hill with a coffee. It puts you in the right headspace for everything else.
Hikes & Trails — Coeur d'Alene
Easy · Lake Views
Tubbs Hill
Our most-recommended spot in all of CDA. Right off downtown, takes about an hour to loop, and the views of the lake from the top are jaw-dropping. There's a quiet rocky beach you can swim from too.
Go early on weekdays. Weekend mornings get crowded fast and the trail is best when it's quiet.
Moderate · Scenic
Mineral Ridge
A calf burner but absolutely worth it. There's an old mining cave near the top and the lake panoramas are some of the best in the area. About 3 miles total with steady switchbacks.
Bring more water than you think you'll need. Seriously.
Challenging · Summit
Canfield Mountain
Nearly 2,000 feet of elevation gain in under 2 miles. But standing at the top looking over CDA, Post Falls, and Hayden all at once is something you won't forget. Go early and bring snacks.
This is not a casual hike. Come prepared and you'll be rewarded with one of the best views in North Idaho.
Easy · Family
Cougar Bay
A hidden gem most visitors never find. Flat, peaceful, winds through beautiful wetlands along the lake. Great for families — even young kids do the whole thing without complaint.
Pair it with a picnic at the water's edge. One of the quietest spots on the whole lake.
On the Water
Boat Rental
KJ Watersports
We've sent so many guests here and everyone comes back raving. Book the Bayliner to explore coves; the pontoon is perfect for a bigger group with coolers and music. Reserve at least a week out in summer.
Head to Beauty Bay — one of the most gorgeous spots on the lake and most people cruise right past it.
Jet Ski · Pontoon
Lakeside Water Rentals
If you've never been on a jet ski, this is the perfect place to try it. The staff are patient and genuinely excited to get you out there. Two hours on Lake CDA is one of those experiences that stays with you.
Book two hours minimum. One hour goes by in a blink and you'll wish you had more time out there.
Things to Do & Explore
Family · Theme Park
Silverwood Theme Park (Athol, ~30 min north)
Absolutely worth it. The waterpark is massive and the rollercoasters are genuinely thrilling. One of our favorite full-day family outings in the whole region.
Go on a weekday — half the crowds, shorter lines, and sometimes lower ticket prices. Buy online in advance and arrive before 10AM on weekends.
Zip Lines · Adventure
Timberline Adventures
We've done this more than once and would do it again tomorrow. The guides are hilarious and make everyone feel safe and pumped. Every single guest we've sent here has thanked us afterward.
Don't overthink it — just book it.
Downtown Park · CDA
McEuen Park
The heart of downtown CDA. We start almost every downtown day here — grab a coffee from Sherman Ave, walk through the park, and head toward the waterfront. Park here once and walk to everything.
Lake Cruise
CDA Resort Lake Cruise
The 90-minute cruise from the CDA Resort dock is genuinely great — they point out celebrity homes on the lake and the guide really knows the history. Perfect for an evening activity.
Best kept secret: Drive south on Hwy 97 to Beauty Bay. It's one of the most beautiful swimming spots on the lake and most tourists never find it. Bring a paddleboard, a cooler, and no plans.
